The library of Eszterházy Károly College is pleased to announce that the fourth American Corner of Hungary was inaugurated on December 19, 2007.
Launched more than ten years ago in about 30 countries the “American Corners” are initiatives supported by the Department of State of the United States. Following Pécs, Veszprém and Debrecen, Eger is proud to become the fourth city to host such facility in Hungary.
Sponsored by the United States Embassy in Budapest, the Eszterházy Károly College and the Mayor’s Office of Eger, the fourth “American Corner” in Hungary was opened on December 19, 2007 in the Central Library of the Líceum Building. The fundamental objective of the American Corner is to provide information about the United States for as many people as possible. The American Corner works like a public library in which visitors may get up-to-date, precise or customized information about American culture, history, educational system, arts, science, economy, seasonable events as well as the workings of the government. The American Corner offers books, learning materials, videos, free Internet access as well as DVDs and CD-ROMs.
