Changing Winds: A New Vision of Environmental Policy
Since the inauguration of President Obama in January 2009, the administration has taken major steps in the development of a new approach to addressing environmental concerns. New concerted efforts are being made to reduce emissions, increase fuel efficiency, and develop alternative energy resources. As part of the recent stimulus packages, for instance, the administration has striven to assist the construction of energy efficient homes and places of business. Furthermore, the US has adopted a proactive stance to environmental issues in the global context, working to forge strong international consensus on problems of climate control. As evidenced in the recent climate change conference in Copenhagen, the US has demonstrated a clear commitment to reengage with the world and lead on climate change and environmental policy.
